CEBU CITY, Feb. 7 (PIA) -- Cebuanos are invited to join the “Million Volunteer Run 2” organized by Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Cebu Chapter on Feb. 10, 5 a.m. at Sumilon Road, Cebu Business Park.

On its second stint this year, the run aims to raise funds to finance the major services of PRC chapters while creating a culture of volunteerism in the country.

In Cebu province, there are two PRC chapters, namely Cebu Chapter and Lapu-Lapu Chapter.

To date, there are still less than a thousand who signed up to join the run for a cause, PRC Cebu Chapter Service Representative-Fund Raising Cyress Joan Catin told the Philippine Information Agency.

“We hope that there will be more runners who will join our run this year,” Catin said.

Last year, around 1,300 Cebuanos participated in the run’s 3K and 5K categories. Catin said they hope to see more runners join this year.

Choice items from the run’s sponsors will be raffled off for lucky runners, such as shirts, water containers, and bags.

Interested runners may register online at http://run.redcross.org.ph. On-site registration is also welcome, said Catin.

The volunteer run’s registration fees are as follows: P100 for students, P200 for non-students, and P500 for businessmen.

Payment can be given to the PRC Cebu Chapter Office located at Osmena Boulevard, this city.

The fee is inclusive of the Million Volunteer Run Whistle which are useful during emergencies, snacks, and a certificate.

Runners are encouraged to bring empty water bottles with them as it will be a “cupless” run to minimize trash.Runners may fill and refill their bottles from the designated water stations.

For more information, interested participants can call up PRC Cebu at 253-9793 or 412-4140. (RMN/PIA CEBU)
