CEBU CITY October 14 (PIA) --- The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP-7) in the region is set to conduct an out camp on basic fire prevention skills for the children of firefighters in the region .
The out camp for firefighters' kids on Oct. 13-14 at Cordova, Cebu will be facilitated by experts in fire prevention and protection based in Cebu.
BFP-7 information officer Inspector Michelle Castro said the out camp includes fire and emergency drills, basic safety tips and prevention, games, and other leisure activities intended for kids to have fun while gaining knowledge on basic fire prevention and safety.
“The activity is really structured for kids, everything is done in a way that it will be easy for them to understand,” Castro added.
She said the out camp will benefit the children since it is important for them to gain knowledge on fire prevention at an early age.
Castro added the BFP plans to eventually hold a similar activity for other children from nursery to grade schools.
“Balak namin na kahit hindi anak ng mga bombero isali na rin (we are planning to include other children even if they are not firefighter's kids) and we also plan to have it during summer or the semester break,” Castro said.
To date, there are 120 kids listed to participate in the out camp.
Also this week, at least 100 firefighters in the region including officials and non- commission officers will undergo training on proper handling of hazardous materials. (mbcn/AYS/PIA-Cebu)
