DOST 7 confab promotes S&T culture to propel economic growth

CEBU CITY, Aug. 1 (PIA) -- The Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-7 expressed optimism that its three-day conference in Cebu which ends today would develop a stronger S&T culture with the end-goal of maximizing science and technology to propel the country’s growth. 

Over 500 delegates attended the conference which began last Monday, July 30 until today at the DOST-7 office here under the theme, “Science, Technology and Innovation: Working Together for Growth and Development.” 

One of the conference objectives is to pave the way for S&T communities to create innovations using science and technology to hasten local and national development. 

The conference also served as a platform for the S&T communities to meet and exchange ideas to maximize the use of S&T for development. 

Another focus of the conference is to popularize science and technology through information brigade on the following topics: energy, food safety, green and urban gardening, green and cloud computing, climate change: earthquakes, typhoons, tsunamis, eruptions and flooding, and innovative ways for funding your S & T projects. 

Participants of the conference are from private companies, government agencies, academe and other stakeholders in the field of science and technology. (FCR/AYS-PIA7 Cebu)
