Pag-IBIG condonation program for erring employers, borrowers ends June 30‘as it opens on June 30 to accommodate clients’
By Amorganda A. Saludar

CEBU CITY June 29 (PIA) -- The Pag-IBIG Cebu office urged erring employers who failed to submit their employees’ membership contributions and housing loan delinquent borrowers to avail themselves of the penalty condonation program. Tomorrow is the last day of the said program.

Van Pepito, PAG-IBIG Cebu information officer said, their office will be open on June 30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in order to accommodate payments from employers who did not collect membership contributions from their employees.

Likewise, borrowers who have been delinquent in their payments of at least three months in their housing loan amortization are encouraged to avail themselves of Loan Restructuring and Penalty Condonation Program.

“We are extending our services by opening on a weekend just to accommodate clients as we urged them to avail of the final deadline tomorrow in order not to be meted the corresponding penalties," Pepito explained.

Pepito said they have constantly reminded the employers and delinquent borrowers of their obligation and that they have until tomorrow to settle their financial obligation so as to avoid penalties.

Failure to settle their obligation by tomorrow will force the borrowers to face the consequences as the fund will start the foreclosure of delinquent housing loan accounts and the filing of criminal cases against erring employers, she added.

For further inquiries, one may visit the Pag-IBIG Cebu Office at the WT Corporate Tower, Mindanao Avenue, Cebu Business Park, Cebu City. Or contact the numbers 234-2709, 231-5570 or 415-5087 for delinquent housing borrowers and 415-5002 or 415-5003 for erring employers. (FCR/AYS-PIA7 CEBU, Van R. Pepito Pag-IBIG Cebu-South)

Mandaue City police on alert against flooding amid rainy season
By Fayette C. Riñen

CEBU CITY, June 29 (PIA) -- Policemen in Mandaue City are on alert with the onset of the rainy season as most, if not all, barangays in the city are prone to flooding.

Mandaue City Police Director S/Supt. Noel Gillamac said the police are already required to identify flood-prone areas in their respective jurisdictions and to be always vigilant during extreme weather conditions.

“There are about 17 barangays that are severely prone to flooding. Because of this, the barangays tanods especially in the identified baragays are already well-trained to respond in times of disaster,” said Gillamac.

The city government has already started dredging operations of rivers and creeks and urged nearby residents not to throw garbage that would lead to clogging which ultimately results to flooding, endangering lives of residents in the area.

“The police are also required to warn residents living near creeks and river for immediate evacuation in case of heavy rains because of threats to rising water,” added Gillamac.

The city police chief also said their search and rescue team is always prepared in case of disaster.

Members of the police along with forces from the Central Command are on standby in case search and rescue efforts are needed during calamities, this is said.

Gillamac said barangay officials, tanods and members of the police are also undergoing continuous training on strengthening their capability in times of disaster. (PIA-Cebu)
