Cebu City mayor pledges support for PhilHealth MOVES

CEBU CITY, Jan. 8 (PIA) --- Mayor Michael Rama has pledged his support for the new enrolment scheme launched by the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).
PhilHealth, in November 2012, launched PhilHealth MOVES or Mobile Orientation, Validation, and Enrolment Scheme, a project that is seen to revolutionize the delivery of key messages on the government insurance member rights and privileges.
Mayor Rama, in a statement, said he is supporting the program as it will help thousands of Cebuanos.
More than 30,000 Cebuanos in Cebu City have already benefitted from the Family Insurance program of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth), said Rama.
PhilHealth MOVES will cover more than 8,000 beneficiaries from the 80 total barangays in Cebu City.
According to Jenet Ann Advincula, Chief for Field Operations Division of the PhilHealth regional office here, yellow Member Data Record (MDR) cards were issued for beneficiaries to temporarily use in their PhilHealth-related transactions while waiting for their official cards to be issued.
Beneficiaries from three barangays participated in the first batch of the PhilHealth ID distribution held on Nov. 22 and 23, 2012.
Said beneficiaries are from Brgy. T. Padilla (139), Tejero (265), Tinago (26), and Brgy. Mambaling (1,299).
The second batch of PhilHealth ID distribution held Jan. 7, 2013 was attended by beneficiaries from Brgy. Lahug (265) and Brgy. Sawang Calero (263).
The distribution will resume in more barangays between Jan. 8 to Jan. 11, 2013.
One of the beneficiaries, Rebeca Urdaneta, 48, from Brangay Tinago, said the program will greatly help her family.
"Dako kaayo ni ug ikatabang namong mga kabus kay mao ni among kaabag kung mga sakit mi ug kung ilabina simbako maospital (This program is a big help for the underprivileged like me especially during the time when we get sick or have to be admitted to the hospital," Urdaneta said.
