PRO-7 assures security plans in place for May 2013 polls

CEBU CITY, Oct. 4 (PIA) -- The Police Regional Office (PRO-7) assures its security plans are in place for the May 2013 polls. 

In the recent Talakayan sa Isyung Pulis (TSIP) forum, top officials from the PRO 7, Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) and from the different cities presented the security preparations they have established beginning with the period of filing of certificates of Candidacy from October 1- 5. 

“We are now conducting preparatory operational plans and during the period of COC filing, we have deployed personnel to the different Comelec offices to monitor the area and to ensure peace and order. We have also conducted workshops to stakeholders to gather their views on strengthening peace and order,” CPPO Director S/Supt. Patrocinio Comendador said. 

For Cebu City, Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Director S/Supt. Melvin Ramon Buenafe said they have conducted meetings and discussions among personnel and officials to discuss matters that will strengthen their security preparations. 

Meanwhile, P/Supt. Josefino Ligan of the Mandaue City Police (MCPO) and P/Supt. Jonathan Abella of the Lapu lapu Police Office (LLCPO) also said they are implementing their respective security plans in their jurisdictions and have deployed personnel in areas in need. 

The regions election monitoring system will be activated said P/Supt. Brindo Nacario, chief of the Regional Operations Plans Division of PRO-7. 

PRO-7 Chief of the Directorial Staff S/Supt. Orlando Ualat said monthly meetings will be held with the officials and personnel involved in the implementation of security preparations and measures to ensure smooth implementation of the security measures even as he asks the public’s cooperation and support in maintaining peace and order in Central Visayas during this election period.
