Over 6,000 in Cebu avail of SSS Loan Condonation Program

CEBU CITY, Sept 3 (PIA) -- Over 6,000 members of the Social Security System (SSS) in Cebu Province availed of the ongoing loan amnesty program that will end on September 30, SSS Assistant Vice- President for Central Visayas Helen Solito said during the recent SSS 55th anniversary press conference at their office.
Solito said the collectible amount from the more than 6,000 borrowers who availed of the Member Loan Penalty Condonation Program is P70 million.
SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Emilio de Quiros Jr, who headed the panel of SSS officials during the teleconference of Cebu, Baguio, and Manila urged borrowers to take advantage of the condonation program in order to receive the full benefits of their membership in retirement, total disability and death.
According to de Quiros, borrowers whose loans are neglected and left unpaid would have to face ballooning monthly penalties that would make it even harder for them to settle in the future.
They also face the risk of the effect of delayed pension or no pension at all because the benefits would first be applied in paying the overdue loan, said the SSS top official.
Over all, SSS has granted amnesty to 80,000 borrowers totaling to P1.03 billion and condoned P591 million in penalties, de Quiros said. (FCR/JSME-PIA7 Cebu).

SSS to hold Stakeholder’s Day on Sept 7

CEBU CITY, Sept 3 (PIA) -- The Social Security System (SSS) will hold a Stakeholder’s Day on September 7 at Robinson’s Mall, this city as part of the 55th Anniversary of the agency.
Helen Solito, SSS assistant vice president, Central Visayas division, said that they are inviting members, employers and pensioners to take part of this grand celebration.
She announced that during the Stakeholder’s Day, the members and employers can look forward to lectures on the benefits and privileges they can get from the agency.
Solito also said that there will be services such as online inquiry and on-site enrollment for the Unified Multi-Purpose ID or UMID card.
SSS President and CEO Emilio de Quiros Jr. said that SSS branches in Pasig Shaw, Manila, Naga, Baguio, Zamboanga and Panabo City in Davao del Norte had their Stakeholder’s Day in their respective areas of coverage on September 1 while SSS branches in Marikina, Novaliches, Bacoor, Cavite, Binan, Laguna, San Fernando, Pampanga, Iloilo City, Tacloban City held it simultaneously in the Robinson’s Malls in their areas.
Only SSS Cagayan de Oro branch will hold it at SM.
