CSC 7 to hold 2-day capability enhancement program

CEBU CITY, May 8 (PIA) -- The Civil Service Commission (CSC) 7 is set to hold a two-day training on "Capability Enhancement Program on Personnel Selection" (CEPPSPP) on May 15 and 16 at their multi-purpose building in Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City. 

Target participants are top officials such as executives, department managers, division chiefs, administrative officers and SB members while regular employees especially those performing personnel management functions can also benefit from the training. 

The CSC 7 is organizing the training program to equip the participants with better understanding of the basic personnel selection policies and to be aware of their roles, functions and responsibilities either as members of the personnel selection board (PSB) or as employees in charge of personnel management. 

The 16-hour training will tackle about knowledge in the positions in the civil service, publication of vacant positions, qualification standards, policies on merit promotion plan system of ranking, personnel selection board and also the proceedings of PSB. Cebu mentors undergo K to 12 training

CEBU CITY May 8 (PIA) -- The Department of Education (Dep Ed) 7 starts its 15-day training program for 1,027 public school teachers in Cebu in preparation for the implementation of the K to12 program this coming June. 

Public teachers from the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Toledo, Bogo, Carcar, Talisay, Danao, and Naga will participate in the mass training on the Implementation of the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum for Grade 1 Teachers at the DepEd Ecotech Center in Lahug, Cebu City. 

Part of the said training is preparing the teachers for the Mother Tongue Curriculum where they are allowed to use the dialect to effectively teach the pupils their lessons. 

The use of the Mother Tongue Curriculum however, is only applicable from Grade 1 to 3 pupils, as contained in a Dep Ed Memorandum. 

Teacher-participants are divided into three batches as the first batch just began its training yesterday while the second batch starts next week and the succeeding week for the third batch. 

The training is expected to last until May 25 as the opening of classes begins on June 4. 

Education officials have said they expect the volume of Grade 1 pupils to rise significantly with the mandatory implementation of the K to 12 Program.
