By Hazel Gloria

CEBU CITY, January 17 (PIA) --- The Cebu City Department of Public Service (DPS) gathered over 100 tons of garbage after the Sinulog celebration on Sunday, January 15.

DPS Chief, Engr. Dionesio Gualiza confirmed that 113 tons of garbage accumulated during the Feast of Sr. Sto. Niño and these were brought to a private landfill in Consolacion, Cebu.

Gualiza said it was hard to clean up the streets inspite of the good weather because most of the people flock to the streets to have more fun right after the Sinulog Grand Parade competition.

Colon Street, Fuente Osmeña and Mangao Square where most of the amusements were located such as the Night Market in Colon and street bands in the other streets had the most accumulated garbage, Gualiza continued.

In cooperation with the City and Environment Sanitation Team and metro aid, they started the streets clean-up at about 2: a.m. and they finished at 7:00 in the morning.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama said, he is willing to give one sack of rice to DPS, metro aids, CESET, CITOM and SPEED personnel for the services they rendered in cleaning the city streets of Cebu. (mbcn/hfg/PIA-7)
