IABC calls for entries to the 2011 PHL Quill Awards

CENTRAL VISAYAS, Sept. 10 (PIA) – The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines invites individuals to enter your best communication work in the 2011 Philippine Quill Awards,  the country’s most prestigious and relevant annual award for business communication.

IABC-Philippines gives the Philippine Quill Award as its annual major program that strengthens and advocates for the IABC Brand of excellence where entries are judged using international criteria.

The Philippine Quill is the country’s counterpart of the global Gold Quill.

This year is the Awards’ tenth anniversary. IABC Philippines will recognize entries that from the judges’ review stand out in their respective divisions with one or more of these traits: sustainability, innovativeness, high degree of creativity and uniqueness, and high degree of social relevance and community service supporting national development.

Winning entries shall showcase how communication enables businesses and companies to meet their goals and targets sustainably, innovatively and responsibly.

To win a Philippine Quill means being recognized as achieving the highest Global Standard for business communication practices.

Winners of this award join a very honored group of professionals who have also set the standard of excellence.

At stake are: Finalist Citations, Awards of Merit, Awards of Excellence and the Division Overall Award.

Deadline of entries is September 30, 2011, Friday and awarding ceremonies will be on November 28, 2011, Monday at Crowne Plaza GalleriaManila, Ortigas Avenue corner Asian Development Bank Avenue , Quezon City .

IABC Philippines is the first country chapter established outside of North America of the San Francisco-based IABC, one of the largest business communication organizations in the world with some 15,000 member-professionals in over 80 countries.

560TH Air base Wing celebrates its 43rd founding anniversary

CEBU CITY, September 9 (PIA) -- Philippine Air Force 560th Air Base Wing based in Mactan Cebu celebrated its 43rd Founding Anniversary on September 02 with a program held at the Base Theater in Brig Gen Benito N Ebuen Air Base,Lapu-lapu City.

Lt Gen Oscar Rabena AFP was the Guest of Honor with Ms. Jocelyn Rabena as Special Guest.  All the HPAF staff and major unit commanders joined the celebration.

Highlights of the event were the recognition of outstanding individuals who have contributed to the accomplishments of the Wing and several outreach projects. 

This year’s Personnel/Unit awardees are the following: Officer of the Year, 1LT GiL L Andal PAF; NCO of the Year, Tsgt George Q Lapina PAF, Airman of the Year Sgt Rhodelino A Manimtim PAF; Civilian Employee of the Year Mrs Rowena S Mepiza.

The Unit Awards were given to the following: Group of the Year 561st Support Group headed by Major Rosemarie R Tanap PAF, Squadron of the Year, 5611th SFS headed by Acting Squadron Commander 2Lt Mario j Delos Reyes Jr. PAF.

The following personnel are the PAF Core Values, InSTEP awardees: Integrity; A1C Kristian De Leon, Service; Sgt Dan Neil B Despi PAF, Teamwork; 5613th BSS headed by Cpt Edward F Oxales PAF, Excellence; Sgt Ericson M Castil PAF Professionalism; Msgt Virgilio C Cabanilla PAF.

The following private Individual, organization and friends of 560th ABW were given recognition by presenting Plaques of appreciation: Rotary Club of Mactan, Mr David Collins, Mr Ferdinand M Balao, Mr Regino Sanchez, 5th Air Reserve center, 5052nd Search and Rescue Squadron.

On the other hand, different projects like Internal Peace and Security Plan (Oplan Bayanihan) and reaching out accomplishments, aimed at completing the government’s initiatives in Poverty-Reduction and Nation Building were also given recognition.

There were 13,547 people that benefited from the PAF's medical mission while 3,281 patients received dental care/attention.

Operation Tuli served 1,929 patients and 150 pupils of Basak Day Care Center benefited from its Supplemental Feeding.

PAF has also conducted five (5) Coastal Clean-up clearing five kilometers of shorelines and collected 4 truckloads of garbage and debris.

On Forest Building program, 5,600 trees had been planted in Mt Pung-ol and Lagtang, Talisay while 5,600 propagules had been sown in mangrove areas of Liloan and Cordova.

The Bloodletting dubbed as “Dugo ko, Buhay mo” program collected 160, 000 cc of blood, targeted to accumulate 1 million cc of blood to be used by the indigent residents of Cebu province.

Our PAF Youth Olympics established the Long-Clamored Grass-Root Sports Development Program to take the youth away from drugs and internet games addictions and developing the  youth to become productive citizens and future leaders of the country.   There were 517 registrants, ages 5-16 years old that participated in the program.

In support of the National Greening Program the DENR-PAF held a ground breaking ceremony and MOA signing at the back of the Base Gym with Dioscoro Melana, DENR-7, Protected Area Wildlife in Coastal Management Zone Services (PAWCMZS) and LtGen Oscar H Rabena AFP, PAF chief to fully support the greening program of the Aquino administration. (PIA-7/mbcn/hfg & PAF 560th ABW)
