AFP and Guam Nat’l Guard repair schools in Cebu City

CEBU CITY, August 22 (PIA) – The Armed Forces of the Philippines – Central Command (CentCom) in partnership with the Guam National Guard (GUNG) is currently renovating some classrooms in Poblacion Pardo Elementary School in Cebu City.

Repairs of the classrooms started last Saturday which are expected to end on August 27 or this coming Saturday where there will be a turn-over of the newly-renovated classrooms, according to the Public Information Office of CentCom.

Twenty personnel from the GUNG team are assisted by personnel from CentCom and the 53rd Engineering Brigade.

“This activity is part of strengthening the relations between the Philippines and the United States,” Centcom Commanding General Lieutenant General Ralph Villanueva said.

Apart from repairing classrooms, the GUNG team composed of medical and dental personnel from the US will also provide medical and dental services to the residents of Barangay Poblacion Pardo and Sitio Cantipla, Barangay Tabunan in Cebu City.

The GUNG team is augmented by medical personnel from the Camp Lapulapu Station Hospital, Central Command, 2nd Air Division and the Naval Forces Central.

Likewise, volunteer doctors, dentists and nurses from the reservist force (7th Regional Community Defense Group, 5th Air Reserve Center and 5thNaval Reserve Command) are participating in the activity.

The group aims to target at leas 4,000 patients during the two-day activity while medicines and other medical and dental needs are provided to the identified beneficiaries, this is learned.

Villanueva said the objective of the activity is to help uplift the medical condition of the populace in said areas and improve the learning environment of the students of Poblacion Pardo Elementary School. (PIA Cebu with report from CentCom PIO)

DTI to hold public consultation in Cebu City
on amended Business Name Law on Aug. 25

CEBU CITY, August 22 (PIA) -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will hold a public consultation in Cebu City on its proposed Department Administrative Order (DAO) that seeks to further amend the revised Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Business Name Law  slated this Thursday, August 25.

According to the DTI, the purpose of the public consultation is to get comments and suggestions from stakeholders with regards to the proposed DAO that will further amend the implementing rules and regulations of the BN law. 


The meeting will also be an opportune time to discuss BN related technical and legal issues, this is said.

Among the salient points in the proposed DAO is the automatic revocation of the business name registration if the registrant fails to show proof of operation within six months from the date of registration.

All stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the public consultation while the activity is free of charge.

Public consultations will also be held in General Santos City, Baguio City and Makati City in September this year. (PIA-Cebu)
